On August 25, 2021 the WHO released their guidance document for implementing Covid-19 Vaccination Certificates, in digital form. The document is called ” WHO-2019-nCoV-Digital-certificates-vaccination-2021.1-eng.” The digital verification system uses blockchain.

Moving towards digital documentation of COVID-19 status

“Historically, paper-based vaccination records have presented many challenges – such as the possibility of losing or damaging the card, or even the possibility of fraud. The proposed digital solutions are designed to address these challenges.”

This patent filed in June 20, 2019 by Microsoft Technology LLC, designed to work with cryptocurrency mining.

With blockchain technology integrated into a blockchain network, each connected member of that network becomes a node. This is much like all your smart, wifi-connected devices in your home network connecting to your printer of iPad. With this patent a blockchain network could be connected with humans as nodes, collecting data and verifying its authenticity as would be needed for a Covid-19 Vaccination Status network.

For an example of what a “vaccine economy” would look like, all you have to do is check out the Victorian region of Australia.

“There is going to be a vaccinated economy, and you get to participate in that if you are vaccinated,” Mr Andrews said.
