Colored Patriots of the American Revolution
America has such a rich history in fighting for the freedom of all mankind, free & slave. Much of that history has been removed from our schools and replaced with narratives that work to divide us and bring back the days of segregation. The truth is there was a great number of black Americans who fought along side white Americans in order for both to be free. One of the best examples of this forgotten history is the book “Colored Patriots of the American Revolution” written in 1855 by William Cooper Nell & Harriet Beecher Stowe. This 395-page book details many of the black Americans who were instrumental in America gaining its freedom from the British.
